Jacques-Armand Chappey (d. 1899)
divison 81 - This unique and striking relief is an allegory representing the Irish-French composer Augusta Holmes (1847-1903); she’s wearing a light shift, holding a piece of paper with a small bunch of roses, and with two young seemingly unsettled children at her feet, one clearly grieving. But what her connection was with Chappey remains a mystery.
