Relief of Thought as represented by a young woman raising her veil with her right hand, the medallion of Goethe’s image and the medallion of Sophie at the very top of the monument. A model of the relief was shown at the Salon of 1877.

division 54 - Sculpture group (1911) consisting of the bust of Colonel Philippe Denfert-Rochereau, the “Lion of Belfort” and a bronze medallion of the “Lion”.

On either side of the stele supporting the colonel’s bust are two additional bronze medallions, each representing a woman wearing traditional clothes of the provinces of Alsace and Lorraine.
