Charles-François Lebrun (1739-1824)
division 5 - duc de Plaisance. French statesman.
A large sarcophagus tomb inside a Greek-style temple supported by eight pillars around which are a series of reliefs: on the left side is a medallion of Lebrun carved in the center of a oak crown (?) and on each side is a winged cherub leaning on the crown; on the right side: in the center is a winged woman standing; busts of Homer and Tasse; also two nude winged spirits, each has a tablet, one reads "Translation of the Jerusalem Delivered,"and the other "Translation of the Iliad by Homer"; on the front side is a woman leaning her left hand on a ship prow decorated with coats of arms, lions posing their feet on a shield; at the bottom is engraved : " G de la Hollande"; on the back side is a standing woman with her hands crossed over her chest and her right elbow rests on a vessel prow on which is carved a lion.
